The School Fox
Way back in 1953, when our school was first built, a family of magical foxes lived in Evington. They roamed free, had fun, and because they were magical, they loved to help people.
The magical foxes lived where the school now stands, and although they did not want to move, they knew that the school would help people, just like they did. As a result, the family of foxes agreed to scatter across Evington and Leicester, bringing joy and wonder to everyone they meet.
One of those foxes now lives down at the King Power; he is called Filbert. Another lives in Mrs. Patel’s back garden, and can often be seen running around at night. Luckily, one of the magical foxes has stayed at the school, and can usually be found in Mr. Whitney’s office. He is a bit of a scamp, but is really good at making the children smile and be happy. Often, he will come into class, and although you might not know he is there, he loves seeing you all, and especially the kindness you show to each other.
As everyone knows, all magical foxes have special powers. Filbert has the power of making a good football team into a great football team! Mrs. Patel’s fox has the power of making us all into artists! The School Fox has the power of being a great listener and helping us when we most need it.
Mr. Whitney has given the School Fox a very special job indeed. As he is such a good listener and wants all of the children to be happy, he now has his very own section of the Mayflower website. Every now again, you’ll hear of his many adventures, but he is also here to listen if any of you are feeling sad, worried, or unsure. He would love to hear of your news at home, and he promises to reply to every message that he receives.
